Starting a business in France
Starting a business in France attracts a huge number of comers. International and national cooperation of capital and economies flowing into France, active investment receive the support of the French authorities, the hospitality of the local population and the almost complete absence of any restrictions in the areas of activity. Licensing and obtaining official business permits are provided for very few activities: the provision of services in the field of education, medicine or law. However, there are also small restrictions where foreign entrepreneurs are not entitled to carry out any activity. Despite the open list of types of entrepreneurship, the opening of restaurants, clubs, cafes, tourism, trade (the most profitable in the sale of alcoholic beverages), and the provision of various kinds of computer and computer related services have long been considered the most attractive. Work with real estate is also a good source of income, which has been quite actively in demand lately.
When selecting personnel, it is necessary to be guided by the efficiency of the entire business. When appointing a manager, it is necessary to select a specialist from French citizens, however, at the same time, there always remains the possibility of independent management of the entire business process. However, for this it is necessary to obtain a so-called merchant card. In this case, the procedure may be as follows: register a legal address and open a bank account, contact the embassy of your state in France, obtain a certificate. The validity of the card (certificate) is one year, and can be extended. It is she who gives the right to independently carry out activities in France. Obtaining a merchant’s card also has a number of advantages, namely, it makes it possible to obtain the right to permanent residence in the territory of the state in a facilitated manner.
However, before creating your own business in any of the states, you need to familiarize yourself with the forms of doing business in this country, the positive and negative aspects of each of them. So, for France, the most attractive is the small business. One of the most widely sought after is a limited liability company (EURL). It is characterized by: a simplified registration procedure and a minimum authorized capital. In this case, it is rather a formality, its amount is 1 euro. Based on the results of its activities, the company reports once a year, which is also one of the most attractive aspects of doing business in France, since in some other countries it is necessary to report monthly. It should be borne in mind that a company can be liquidated by force if, at the end of the reporting period, the amount of the authorized capital was less than 50% of the amount at the beginning of the year.
There are two more forms of active start of business: the creation of a joint stock company (SA), where the amount of the authorized capital is at least 250,000 euros and at least 7 founders, as well as a limited liability company (SARL), two founders and 50,000 euros.
It should be noted that in many regulatory acts governing business in France, the French franc, which was withdrawn from circulation in 2002, is still used as the currency for settlements with the state.
Another type of starting a business in France is the purchase of a ready-made and existing enterprise. In this case, the main decisive factor is the reduction of risks, the transition of the main regular customers, sales and supply channels, however, the issue of selling a business is alarming, and therefore it is necessary to make a balanced and economically sound decision.
